Male’, Maldives –The Envrionment Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that action will be taken against those who transport palm trees to resorts without the Agency’s permission, even if permission is taken from the City Council.

A statement released by EPA stated that under the law to protect and preserve the environment, palm trees can only be removed and transported to other places such as resorts with the permission from EPA. However, the agency noted that some parties are doing this with a permission they received from the City Council.

Informing that action will be taken against those who transport palm trees without the permission of EPA, the statement read that a permission from the city council is not a green light to carry out such tasks.

It was also added that those who transport the palm trees and their vehicles must also carry all relevent permission slips to avoid consequences.
