Malé, Maldives – Former President and Current Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has had a go at MP Mohamed Rasheed (Bigey), suggesting that it would be better if Bigey did not comment on the loyalty others have towards him.

In a tweet Nasheed sent out on Friday, he went on to say that his friend and MP of Alifushi constituency would know what that person does and says for political gain, and that it would be preferable if that person refrains from talking about the assistance and loyalty others have towards him.

I prefer if he does not talk about other member’s loyalty to me

Criticism was aimed at Bigey from various MDP members, following the dismissal of the case which accused MNDF of conflicting with the Parliament’s privilege as they denied to allow individual officers to attend the 241 Committee inquiry. However, the Parliamentary member denied all accusations against him.

Following the dismissal of the case by the Parliament’s Ethics Committee, MP Rasheed was highly criticised by Deputy Speaker and MP of North Galolhu Constituency Eva Abdullah. She accused the MP of trying to interfere with the Parliamentary investigation.

However, MP Rasheed denied these accusations saying that he say nothing but the truth even if he was cut up and fed to crows. He noted that he worked in reformative works in the past as well and that he will continue to do so.

Maldives National Defence Force initially refused to let individual officers attend the 241 Committee inquiry regarding the terror attack against Speaker Nasheed on May 6. However, individual officers are currently attending the committee for questioning including Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdullah Shamaal.
