Maldives records 201st Covid-19 death!

Malé, Maldives — The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reported that a 70 year old Maldivian male admitted at DH11 was declared dead at 17:44, this evening.

While the country’s death toll has risen to 201 including todays death, the number of cases being recorded in Maldives has been slowly recovering from one of the worst waves since its first case of community spread in April 2020.

This comes while Health Protection Agency (HPA) had recorded only 241 Covid-19 cases yesterday out of the 4,418 samples taken. 

As per the agency’s statistics, out of the new cases, 90 were from the Greater Malé area, while 143 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. The figures also included six cases from operational resorts and two from islands under development, bringing the total active cases in the country to 7,747.

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country has reached 71,138 out of which 63,180 patients have made full recoveries till date.
