Malé, Maldives — Athletics Association of Maldives has announced that the Maldives’ National Athletics Team will be participating in the upcoming Indian Inter States Athletics Championship.
The Championship is to be held on India from June 25 till June 29. Athletics Association of Maldives announced that both male and female athletics relay team will be participating in this event.
The participants of Maldives’ team for male athletes are Nujoom Hassan, Ibadullah Adam, Hussain Riza and Abdul Rasheed Hassan. The female athletes competing are Mariyam Ruya Ali, Mariyam Alha, Rifa Mohamed, Aishath Himna Hussain and Aishath Shaba Saleem.
Although the Indian Inter States Athletics Championship is a state championship, the country usually always gives opportunities for international countries to take part in the event as well. This is to give international opportunities for athletes from other countries and to also evaluate their athletes.
Apart from Maldives, this year athletes from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Butan, Philippines and Kazakhstan will be participating in the Championship.
The Athletics Association of Maldives announced that their athletes will be flying to India this Sunday to prepare and compete at the Championship.
