Male’, Maldives – General Secretary of Athletics Association, Ahmed Munthagim appointed as Chef de Mission of Maldives for Olympic Games 2020.

Having experience with international games competitions, Munthagim has previously served as the International Head Technical Official of Athletics in the South Asian Games held in 2019 along with being an official of multiple events held at the Youth Athletics Championship held in HongKong in 2019.

The opportunity for Munthagim to be the Chef de Mission of Maldives for Olympic Games 2020 would give him his second experience in an international level at Tokyo Olympics Competition. He also worked at the Asian Junior Championship held in Japan in 2018, however, at that time, he was appointed as a referee from the Maldives.

The responsibility of Chef de Mission would be to supports the Games Coordinator and each Regional Sport Team Manager with the implementation of all tasks such as planning, communicating and to ensure that the coaches, managers, and athletes have success navigating the Games environment.

Four athletes from Maldives will be participating in three events of the Olympic Games 2020. They are Hassan Saaid for marathon, Fathimath Nabaha Abdul Razzag for badminton and Aishath Sajina and Mubal Ahzaam for swimming. The competition is scheduled to begin this Friday in Tokyo, Japan.
