Minister Shahid meets with the Director General of ADFD

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid on Friday, met with the Director-General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, in Dubai.

During the meeting, Minister Shahid and Director-General Al Suwaidi reflected on the long-standing bond between Maldives and UAE as close friends and partners.

Subsequently, they discussed the key ongoing projects in Maldives carried out with the assistance of the UAE and went on to discuss ways to finalize and move forward with pipeline projects.

In addition to this, Minister Shahid highlighted the successful completion of the first phase of Maafaru International Airport, in Noonu Atoll as one of the most notable ventures by ADFD in the Maldives during recent years. The project has yielded immense benefits for the region and introduced new prospects for many Maldivians.

He also expressed confidence that the second phase of the project, including further development of the airport, in collaboration with ADFD, would result in the realization of even more opportunities for the nation.

Minister Shahid reiterated gratitude on behalf of the Maldivian Government for the invaluable role played by ADFD, in supporting the development of Maldives.

Director-General Al Suwaidi assured that ADFS was committed to continuing the support as a development partner of the Maldives.
