Covid-19: 38 cases currently hospitalised

Malé, Maldives – The latest updates from Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that there are currently 38 hospitalised cases of Covid-19 in Maldives.

HPA’s latest statistics show that as of 18:00, Thursday, there are 38 hospitalised cases of Covid-19 in the country. This is a massive improvement for the country in comparison to the recent surge in cases. Maldives recently saw daily cases over 1,000 and over 200 hospitalised cases. This led to several Covid-19 deaths in the same day as well.

However, the daily cases of Covid-19 have now started to decrease, thus decreasing the number if hospitalised cases as well.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) reported 212 new cases of Covid-19 in Maldives, from 4,959 samples taken yesterday . As per the agency, out of the new cases, 52 were from the Greater Malé area, while 157 cases were recorded from inhabited islands, two cases from operational resorts and one case from an industrial island.

With that, the total number of active cases has reached 4,362.Maldives has recorded a total number of 72,466 Covid-19 cases, of which 4,262 are currently active. To date, 68,197 patients have made full recoveries. So far Maldives has recorded over 207 Covid-19 related fatalities since the pandemic began

The country has been slowly recovering from one of the worst waves since its first case of community spread in April 2020. With the majority of the hospitalized patients being in the capital, experts continuously reiterate the importance of taking preventive steps against Covid-19, such as maintaining adequate physical distancing, wearing masks and practicing hand hygiene..
