Latest statistics from Foakaidhoo Health Center shows that a total of 103 positive cases have been recorded from the island till date, of which, seven cases alone were recorded yesterday.
Senior Administrator of Health Service, Ahmed Anwar, who is also in charge of Foakaidhoo Health Center informed local media outlet “Avas” today although the island has confirmed over 100 cases, no Covid-19 patient is admitted at the hospital for further health care. However, he stated that a 35 year old was sent to Covid-19 facility in Sh. Atoll as his oxygen level decreased.
Anwar stated that the authorities are also working on carrying out random sampling to identify how worse the Covid-19 situation Foakaidhoo is. While 155 houses are in quarantine, out of the 237 houses in the island, Anwar stated that they have decided to take random sample from one individual from each household that is currently not under quarantine.
Noting that the authorities are still not aware of the source of Covid-19 spread in the island, Anwar stated that they suspect that it is either from an individual who traveled to Foakaidhoo from Kulhuduffushi or from an individual who was given a false negative result for Covid-19.
While a surge in the number of cases are seen in Foakaidhoo, statistics reveal that 67% of Foakaidhoo’s population has administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, while 43% of the population has completed the Covid-19 vaccine doses.
