Australia donates over 3.5 tonnes of PPE to the Maldives

Male’, Maldives – Australian High Commission to Sri Lanka and Maldives, HE Dvid Holly gifts Maldives over 3.5 tonnes of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on behalf of Australia to help the small island nation overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.

This Tuesday, the Australian High Commissioner HE David Holly and Defence Administrative Assistant Paul Cooney (WO1) gifted Maldives with over PPE. They were received by the Maldivian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, HE Omar Razzak on behalf of the country.

Since the Covid-19 began, Australia’s government has aided Maldives with a total of approximately MVR 9 million (AUD 780,00) worth equipments, including PPE, capacity building for frontline workers & support for women & girls.

Maldivian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, HE Omar Razzak expressed gratitude towards Australia for the shipment of another generous gift of PPE for frontline workers and Maldives National Defense Force. He said that it symbolizes the progressive bonds of friendship and affection for Maldives from Australia over the decades.
