Public Health DG urges government employees to get vaccinated

Male’, Maldives  The Director General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakr has released a circular today urging all government employees to get vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus.

The circular from Health Protection Agency (HPA) informs that the large-scale Covid-19 vaccination program in the capital Male’ city and the atolls of Maldives has been initiated.

A statement released by HPA revealed that Maldives has procured enough Covid-19 vaccine doses to completely vaccinate all the residents in the country. HPA advised people to take full advantage of this opportunity to administer the Covid-19 vaccine and protect themselves from danger.

HPA also stated to make sure that all the employees in government institutions administer full doses of the Covid-19 vaccine through this opportunity and assured that they will be providing any assistance required in administering the vaccine or obtaining further information regarding the matter.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih earlier revealed the government’s preparation on initiating a large-scale Covid-19 vaccination program, that aims to inoculate 90 per cent of the eligible population residing in the Maldives by the end of August 2021.

The program would continue until every resident completes their vaccine.

At present, a total of 322,710 people have administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine while only 268,244 people have fully administered the Covid-19 doses.
