Laamu Atoll, Maldives – A Maldivian man has been arrested last night over a violent street attack in L. Fonadhoo against former CEO of local media station DhiFM, Masood Hilmy .
Police media official informed local news Sun that a 36 year old Maldivian man was arrested at 02:18 with a court warrant.
Last night, a man attacked Masood with an iron bar, while he was on the road. The man, also on a motorcycle, overtook Masood, attacked him and sped away. Masood suffered injuries to his arm that he used to shield himself and was treated at L. Fonadhoo Health Center. A video of the attack, shot by the victim’s wife in the passenger seat, is being widely circulated on social media.
Masood alleges that the man who attacked him is also the man who set his car on fire in a previous attack. The property damage case is still under investigation with the Maldives Police. The suspect has continuously harassed the couple, according to the victim.
While the case was reported to L. Fonadhoo Police Station at 21:13, the arrest was also made last night. The police is investigating the case.
