Male’, Maldives – President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih instructed all government employees this Tuesday to fully administer both doses of Covid-19 vaccine.
President Solih instructed all government employees, including government agencies and subsidiaries to complete the Covid-19 doses as “immunization is the best safeguard against the virus for the whole community.”
Government employees who have not administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine are required to complete their first dose by August 15, 2021 and their second dose after the requisite duration. Meanwhile, the employees who were advised against vaccination, due to pre-existing medical conditions, by a medical doctor registered in the Maldives, are also urged to become immunised as their health allows.
President Solih directed state administrators and senior management to ensure that all employees receive both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
On August 02, 2021, Maldives initiated a large-scale Covid-19 vaccination program in the capital Male’ city and the atolls as the country has procured enough Covid-19 vaccine doses to completely vaccinate all the residents in the country.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih earlier revealed the government’s preparation on initiating a large-scale Covid-19 vaccination program, that aims to inoculate 90 per cent of the eligible population residing in the Maldives by the end of August 2021.
The program would continue until every resident completes their vaccine.

At present, a total of 325,060 people have administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine while only 274,949 people have fully administered the Covid-19 doses.
