Malé, Maldives — Health Protection Agency (HPA) announces that from September 1 onwards, PCR test will not be required to enter the islands that have over 90% of the eligible population fully vaccinated.
Spokesperson of HPA, Dr. Nazla Rafeeg informs that the agency has decided to lower easements for islands with positivity rate below 5%, only if they have 90% of their eligible population fully vaccinated. If a guest house is being operated in the area, Dr. Nazla states that the vaccination coverage must be above 95% on the island.
The latest statistics released from the Health Ministry shows that currently there are a total of 32 islands with a Covid-19 vaccine coverage of over 90% for the eligible population.
They are AA. Mathiveri and V. Rakeedhoo with 99% eligible population vaccinated with both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and N. Magoodhoo, B. Dhonfan and B. Fehendhoo with 98% of the eligible population fully vaccinated. The remaining islands with over 90% vaccination coverage are:

On August 02, 2021, Maldives initiated a large-scale Covid-19 vaccination program in the capital Male’ city and the atolls as the country have procured enough Covid-19 vaccine doses to completely vaccinate all the residents in the country.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih earlier revealed the government’s preparation on initiating a large-scale Covid-19 vaccination program, that aims to inoculate 90 per cent of the eligible population residing in the Maldives by the end of August 2021.
At present, a total of 327,579 people have administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine while only 280,353 people have fully administered the Covid-19 doses.
