Only fully vaccinated tourists can enter guesthouses in Male’ area: HPA

Male’, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated that for the time being, only fully vaccinated tourists are allowed to stay in guesthouses in the Greater Male’ area.

HPA stated today that tourists can only enter the guesthouses in Maldives if they are fully vaccinated and has completed 14 days since vaccination or if the vaccination coverage in that island satisfies to the following requirements.

  • 60% of the total population must be fully vaccinated.
  • 95% of the individuals involved in providing services to the tourists must be fully vaccinated.
  • 90% of the population above the age of 65 must be fully vaccinated.
  • Vaccine doses will only be counted after completing 14 days since vaccination.

The agency noted that tourists who are not fully vaccinated can enter the islands that satisfy to the aforementioned requirements. However, they are mandated to present a PCR test after seven days of checking-in to the guesthouse.

As the vaccine coverage in the capital Male’ city does not satisfy with the aforementioned requirements, HPA states that for the Male’, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated that for the time being, only fully vaccinated tourists are allowed to enter the guesthouses in the Greater Male’ area.
