Malé, Maldives – Local news Mihaaru reports that the Maldives Police Service has shut down multiple drug cafés in a police operation initiated early this morning.
Maldives Police previously arrested a landlord operating a drug café on September 4. Police informed that there are 20 fortified homes run as ‘drug cafe’ businesses that provide secure locations for drug users to sell and peddle drugs.
Prior to this operation, Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem has said that the authorities plan to crack down on the other ‘drug cafés’ running in Malé.
