Five arrested in drug operation conducted in Malé

Malé, Maldives —Maldives Police Service has revealed they have arrested five people in a drug operation conducted in Male’ area.

Police informed that out of the multiple drug operations they conducted, one was conducted on April 30th after Police Intelligence received information that drugs were being smuggled through a supply boat traveling to a resort in R. Atoll. With the help of R. Meedhoo Police Station, Police confiscated several packets suspected to have been drugs from the tracked supply boat.

Police stated that through this operation, they arrested a 35 year old man for smuggling drugs into the country. When the perpetrator was brought to the court, the court ordered him to be remanded at a place of Ministry of Home Affairs choice for 10 days.

Along with this, Police revealed that they also conducted two drug operations in Male’ area on April 29 and April 28.

On the Operation held on April 29, Police stated they found rubber packets and other things suspected to have been drugs in a house in Machan Goalhi. Two individuals of the age 24 and 29 were arrested in this operation. Police revealed that the Court has ordered these two individuals to be remanded at a place of Ministry of Home Affairs choice for 15 days.

On the Operation held on April 29, Police had arrested a 22 year old male and female for having possession of 84 rubber packets and other things suspected to have been drugs in a house in Mafannu. While the Court had ordered the 22 year old male to be remanded for 15 days at a place of Ministry of Home Affairs choice, the 22 year old female was ordered to be remanded for only 05 days.
