Malé, Maldives – The Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed, today, said that preparations are being made to establish a police station at Hiyaa flat Tower 4.
Speaking at the parliament, CP Hameed said that an expected 35,000 people would live at the 16 towers of Hiyaa flats. This would require a minimum of 56 officers to monitor the Hiyaa flats.
The Police Commissioner said that discussions are in progress for over year and there is significant progress to provide police protection for the flats. To this end, work has begun to establish a police station at Hiyaa flat Tower 4.
While the Hulhumalé Police is overseeing the Hiyaa flat at this time some incidents of thefts and vandalism have been reported.
In addition, the Head of Hulhumalé Police, Chief Superintendent Mohamed Rasheed said that people are already residing in the Hiyaa flats and 24 hour security is being provided at the flats.
