Wage Advisory Board sets minimum wage at MVR 5,700

Malé, Maldives – The Wage Advisory Board has allocated MVR 5,700 as minimum wage and sent the decision to the Economic Minister for approval.

The Advisory Board states that the minimum wage is set at

  • MVR 5,700 for daily 8 hours of work for small business employees.
  • MVR 7,000 for daily 6 hours of work for permanent Civil Service employees.
  • MVR 8,000 for medium business employees.
  • MVR 10,200 for large business employees.

The board is yet to set the minimum wage for migrant workers and foreigners.

The minimum wage will be implemented upon approval by the Economic Minister.
