The Secretary General of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), His Excellency Esala Ruwan Weerakoon has arrived on Saturday for an introductory visit to the Maldives.
His Excellency Weerakoon of Sri Lanka assumed charge of office as the Secretary General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) with effect from 01 March 2020. He is the fourteenth Secretary General of SAARC.
During the visit, SAARC Secretary General is scheduled to call on the President of the Maldives, His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Foreign Secretary, His Excellency Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, and Ambassador at Large and Former SAARC Secretary General, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Saleem.The Secretary General will also call on Former President, H.E. Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and President of the Civil Service Commission, Mr. Mohamed Nasih.
SAARC Secretary General will depart on 13th October 2021 on conclusion of his visit. The Secretary General is accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Krishanti Weerakoon and Mr. Ismail Mamdhooh, Director, Social Affairs Division at SAARC Secretariat.
