SAARC Secretary-General Weerakoon concludes introductory visit to Maldives

The Secretary General of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), His Excellency Esala Ruwan Weerakoon has departed after concluding his official visit to Maldives.

During the visit, Secretary-General Weerakoon paid a courtesy call on the President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at the President’s Office on 11 October 2021. Secretary-General Weerakoon also called on Foreign Secretary His Excellency Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed and Ambassador at Large and Former Secretary-General of SAARC, His Excellency Ahmed Saleem at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Secretary-General was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Krishanti Weerakoon and Mr Ismail Mamdhooh, Director, Social Affairs Division at SAARC Secretariat during his visit.

Secretary-General Weerakoon was seen off at Velana International Airport by Ambassador at Large, Ahmed Saleem, Chief of Protocol, Aishath Shaan Shakir and Joint Secretary, Ms. Fathimath Ghina.
