UNGA President concludes Official Visit to the Maldives

The President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA), Minister of Foreign Affairs and State Dignitary, Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzudin, H.E Abdulla Shahid has concluded the Official Visit he made to the Maldives on the invitation of H.E President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The PGA was seen off from Velana International Airport tonight by the Chief of Staff of the President’s Office, Ali Zahir.

The PGA called on President Solih at the President’s Office during his visit. He was accorded the full ceremonial honours and welcomed by President Solih on his arrival to the President’s Office, where he signed the Visitor’s Book. The President and PGA also held a Joint Press Conference during his visit to the President’s Office.

At the special ceremony held to mark this year’s National Day, President Solih presented the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin to the PGA. The Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin was conferred to acknowledge the PGA’s national service in boosting the foreign sector and bringing pride to the Maldives in the international arena.

As part of the PGA’s Official Visit to the Maldives, President Solih and H.E First Lady Fazna Ahmed hosted an Official Luncheon in honour of the PGA. The PGA also attended the second match played by the Maldives National Football Team in the SAFF Championship 2021, where the Maldives faced off against Bangladesh at the National Stadium.

Earlier today, the PGA’s spouse, H.E Aishath Suiza, called on the First Lady, discussing the role of women in the development of the nation.
