Malé, Maldives – The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested 10 and seized 100 kilos of heroin in a joint counter-narcotics trafficking operation in the last 24 hours.
The Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed informs that the joint drug bust was carried out by officers from Drug Enforcement Department (DED), Drug Intelligence, Marine Police & Forensics. Maldives Police searched 10 locations in the Maldives in 24 hours during the raid.

While Police have not released further details of the ongoing investigation, CP Hameed states that the operation was conducted by the police using the intelligence received from regional law enforcement partners through the Maldives Coast Guard.
Earlier in September, the Maldives Police shut down 25 drug cafés across the capital city Malé.
