Addu City, Maldives – Addu Emergency Operations Center (Addu EOC) reveals that by Saturday, Addu City confirmed 69 new Covid-19 cases, increasing the total active cases to 671.
The statistics released by Addu EOC shows that with the additional 69 cases confirmed yesterday, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Addu City has risen to 3,900 with 14 fatalities.
At present, the highest number of active cases are in Hithadhoo with 275 cases, followed by Feydhoo with 156 active Covid-19 cases and Maradhoo with 29 cases, while Maradhoofeydhoo has 26 cases. Addu EOC informs that there are 11 active cases in Meedhoo and 55 active cases in Hulhudhoo.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) has cautioned the nation as Maldives is set to enter a fourth wave larger than any faced before.
The authorities are also bracing for impact as health experts forecast an impending Omicron related Covid-19 wave to peak towards the end of January or beginning of February. Authorities warn that the Omicron cases will surpass the Delta variant.
Daily positive cases have surpassed the 2,000 mark with one fatality recorded today.
