Covid-19 death toll rises to 282

Malé, Maldives – The Covid-19 death toll has jumped to 282 with the passing of a 75 year old Maldivian in the capital.

The elderly woman admitted at the Hulhumalé Covid management facility passed away at 13:42 today.

Another Covid-19 death was reported yesterday from the same facility with the passing also of a Maldivian woman aged 80 at 15:35.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reported 1,589 new cases as of Saturday. Of which 400 were from the Malé area, while 843 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. The figures also revealed that 80 new cases were found from operational resorts, adding up to 17,637 active cases in the country.

With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Maldives has reached 148,580.
