Maldives administers booster doses to over 100,000 people

Malé, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) states that over 104,134 people have received booster doses as of Thursday.

The Covid-19 vaccination program continues in the Maldives with 9 vaccination centres in the greater Malé area and 185 in the atolls.

With the spread of the Omicron virus, the authorities have fast tracked the booster program. Booster program for the general public began on 15 January 2022, with shots available for all fully vaccinated individuals over the age of 18 who completed two doses of any Covid-19 vaccine 6 months prior.

Maldives is using the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for the booster program. The United States has donated 439,920 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines to the Maldives and committed $7 million to Maldives’ COVID-19 response and recovery.
