Poultry farm a major win for Addu – Fisheries Minister

Malé, Maldives – Fisheries Minister Dr. Hussain Rasheed Ahmed has called the establishment of a poultry farm in Addu a major win for the city.

In a tweet sent by the Minister in Dhivehi, he further said that, “on this momentous occasion, I congratulate BTEK, the current Mayor and former Mayor of Addu City.”

The poultry farm which officially kicked off operations on 1st of March this year is an Addu, Hithadhoo owned business of BTEK, which is currently being operated on leased land.

The Managing Director of BTEK, Hussain Mohamed said that the goal is to expand the business further to be able to cater to the whole of Addu, and that the company is looking into introduce chicken eggs to the market in the future as well.

He also added that the public’s response is beyond their expectations.
