Malé, Maldives – The Ministry of Home Affairs of Maldives has revoked the approval to operate news platforms in the Maldives for 47 entities.
Citing discontinued publishing as the reason of revoking the approval for all 47 news entities, the Home Ministry, in a statement released on Thursday night stated that all news entities of which approvals were revoked were registered with the Home Ministry prior to 31st of December 2019.
Along with the statement, was an attached list of the names of the 47 news entities, which included online media such as Kurin’bee Live, Alifushi Online and Maldives Independent.
According to the regulations of the country, all news entities must be registered with the Home Ministry to operate in the Maldives.
