MNDF investigates medical emergencies in recent trainings

Malé, Maldives – Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has formed a committee and has begun investigations into the recent medical incidents that took place among officers training in Lh. Maafilaafushi.

During the last week, three medical incidents occurred amongst trainees in the island with one officer passing away, another in the intensive care unit and another officer being admitted in the hospital.

In a statement given by the Media Official of MNDF regarding the matter, he said that such occurrences are saddening and that an committee has been formed with experts from relevant fields to probe in the matter.

The official also stated further comments regarding these incidents will be held off until the committee concludes their investigations.

However, the official did highlight that the MNDF trainings are rigorous and intensive with included risks and that officers selected for these trainings undergo multiple medical and physical tests.
