Malé, Maldives – A five year long Climate Adaptation Project Maldives worth USD 10.5 million has been launched in the Maldives on Tuesday, by the United States for International Development (USAID).
This project is in line with the opportunities and efforts being put towards a climate change adapted country as well as the country’s strategic action plans.
The USAID Mission Director to the Maldives Reed Aeschliman, on the occasion of the project’s inauguration, said that this project would directly address the call for action made by the Maldives and USA concerning climate change.
“Despite contributing least to global warming, the Small Island States such as the Maldives are being impacted first and most severely by the climate crisis” Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Technology Aminath Shauna said regarding the project.
