Malé, Maldives – Bank of Maldives (BML) has introduced the BML Small Grants fund as part of the series of 12 high impact monthly community initiatives to celebrate the Bank’s 40th anniversary in November.
The BML Small Grants fund is open for NGOs to carry out community-based projects that address environmental issues and promote sustainable development. Eight projects will be selected to win a grant of MVR 250,000 each to successfully implement the plan.
BML’s CEO and Managing Director, Tim Sawyer commented, “We’re delighted to announce our Small Grants project as the fifth initiative in our anniversary celebrations. The grant will support small to medium community-led initiatives that address environmental issues, support solutions for environmental challenges while at the same time, enhance community wellbeing and livelihoods for sustainable development. We look forward to the many NGOs working in this field using this opportunity to make a difference.”
Applications must be sent in by 15th May 2022, and community-based NGOs legally registered in the Maldives before 31st December 2021 are welcome to apply, said the bank. Individuals, government bodies, business entities and other institutions are not eligible.
