Malé, Maldives – The Maldives Police Service on Saturday confirmed that the foreigner active with the authorities at the opposition protest yesterday is part of the medical team.
Police stated this after photos and videos circulated of a foreigner active with the authorities who were monitoring the scene of the opposition’s “India Out” protest on Friday. The public has accused the police of receiving commands from an Indian man in controlling the protest.
Regarding this, the Police stated that the man in question is employed in the medical team at the Maldives Police Service. Police further added that news coverage of the events is resulting in threats against police employees.
