Malé, Maldives – Sifainge Welface Company (SIWEC) has stated that the Hiya flats allocated for soldiers will be completed and handed over to families tomorrow.

SIWEC formed to improve and boost the welfare mechanism and services of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) is managing the finishing of 18 Hiya flats assigned to MNDF officers. SIWEC informs that the flats will be handed over ahead of Ramadan.

We are finishing the apartments at low cost with high quality. To accomplish this we had to import materials from abroad and faced some delays in the import process.

Ahmed Zubair, CEO, SIWEC

While acknowledging that they have missed deadlines to hand over the flats, CEO Zubair said that the work will be fast-tracked through the weekend and handed over on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Sifainge Cooperative Society (SIFCO) began a housing project in Hulhumalé for military personnel in 2013 to build 330 flats in three towers. The agreement was suspended following a violation by the first contractor Noomadi and later contracted to Island Expert Private Limited and restarted in 2016. The second agreement was nullified in 2020. The project named “SIFCO Hiya” is still in progress.
