Addu City, Maldives – Addu City Council has announced that accepting Zakat-al Fitr in the city has been commenced.
The council detailed that all ward offices of the city will accept Zakat-al Fitr until the 28th of Ramadan and that the payment can be made online as well, via 7708700341004 (Karadhu 2-1277).
Proof of payment in the form of transfer slips are required to be sent to the respective Viber numbers of the islands, being:
- 7905003 – Hithadhoo
- 7360024 – Maradhoo
- 7360030 – Maradhoo Feydhoo
- 7360031 – Feydhoo
- 7360032 – Hulhudhoo
- 7360034 – Meedhoo
Zakat-al Fitr rates for this year are as follows:
- Normal Rice – MVR 12.00
- Thailand White Rice – MVR 77.00
- Red Rice: MVR 72.00
- Basmati Rice (Normal) – MVR 77.00
- Basmati Rice (Premium) – MVR 90.00
- Basmati Rice (Super) – MVR 132.00
- Normal Flour – MVR 12.00
- Atta Flour – MVR 75.00
As a general rule, the amount of Zakat-al Fitr to be given is 2.4 kilograms or the monetary equivalence of the same weight in grains consumed throughout the year by each individual.
