Malé, Maldives – Maldives’ main airport, Velana International Airport (VIA) has placed four inbound flights on hold due to low visibility amid rough weather.

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) confirms that the four international flights were placed on hold due to unsafe landing conditions caused by strong winds and low visibility.

While the airport which acts as the main air transport hub is considering placing domestic flights on hold depending on the conditions, operations are now resuming as weather gradually clears.

The meteorological office has declared yellow alert for majority of the country including all atolls starting from the northernmost Haa Alif Atoll to Mulaku Atoll.
