Environment Ministry conducts public survey regarding toxic waste storage in Addu City

Addu City, Maldives – Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology on Saturday opened a survey to gauge the public reactions to storing hazardous waste in Addu City’s Hazardous Waste Storage Facility.

The survey filled through google forms is open until this Thursday, May 26.

The contents of the survey are to be used in the environment report regarding the project.

The Hazerdous Waste Management Project plans to store toxic waste in the Hithadhoo Hazardous Waste Storage Facility until a time when enough waste is collected to transfer out of the city.

The survey also asks whether the location of the Hazardous Waste Storage Facility is acceptable.

The Hazardous Waste Storage Facility, established under the Eliminating Persistent Organic Pollutants through Sound Management of Chemicals project, is scheduled to be operational starting July 2022.
