Addu City, Maldives – The Maldivian Aviation Academy (MAA) based in southernmost Addu City commenced flight training exercises on Sunday.
MAA commenced the flight training exercises on Sunday after receiving license to operate from the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority on 3 July 2022.
Six students were able to continue their flight hours in yesterday’s session.
The first batch of practical classes commenced with 35 students, which are all students who were previously studying at the Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA) when the academy decided to cease operations and leave the students in limbo. The 35 students have since completed a refresher program under MAA and await flying sessions.
Additionally, the academy revealed that another batch of 39 students is also currently in the academy’s refresher program, which will be followed by a third refresher program schedule to commence this July.
MAA revealed that it hopes to complete refresher programs for 74 students by the end of this year.
The MAA is a joint venture formed between Maldives National University (MNU) and Island Aviation Services (IAS), in order to carry out pilot training programs in Addu in partnership with the flying academy of Czech Republic.
