Malé, Maldives – President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed on Wednesday arrived in the Maldives after concluding an unofficial visit to Saudi Arabia to perform this year’s Hajj Pilgrimage.
The President and First Lady departed for Saudi Arabia on July 4, 2022.
President Solih refused to address the press upon his arrival at VIA regarding the safe entry of Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa during his absence.
President Gotabaya arrived in the early hours of Wednesday on a military jet with his wife and two bodyguards.
While former President and incumbent Speaker Mohamed Nasheed allegedly arranged Gotabaya’s safe entry, questions are being raised regarding President Solih and incumbent cabinets involvement in the issue.
