Malé, Maldives – The government of Maldives has condemned Israel’s latest aggression against the people of Palestine.

In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry of Maldives, it was stated that, “the Government of Maldives strongly condemns the latest aggression and airstrikes carried out in the occupied Palestine territory of Gaza by Israel, resulting in the death and injury of a number of innocent Palestinian civilians.”

The statement also conveyed sincere condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims of the Israeli aggression in Gaza, on behalf of the government and the Maldivian people.

“The Government of Maldives remains deeply concerned by the disproportionate use of force by Israel on unarmed civilians in the occupied territories, including on women and children,” read the statement.

It was further recalled that the occupation of Palestinian territories by Israel is in violation of international law and relevant UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, adding that a lasting peaceful resolution of the conflict can only be realized through a two-state solution, with an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

“The Government of Maldives reaffirmed its solidarity with the people and the Government of Palestine and reiterated its steadfast commitment to work closely with the international community to advocate the cause of Palestine,” the statement concluded.

Following the most recent attacks by Israel on the occupied Gaza strip of Palestine, at least 31 have been kills with more than 260 injured, international reports read.
