Malé, Maldives – Maldives Police Service has confirmed that MP of Hoarafushi constituency, Ahmed Saleem was not a participant in the same-sex videos leaked on social media recently.

In a letter sent to MP Saleem by Maldives Police Service last Wednesday, police told MP Saleem that their investigation concluded that the news reports accusing him of being part in one of the leaked same-sex videos was not based on any factual evidence.

Media reports had earlier claimed that the second person seen with former journalist of Raajje TV Abdulla Naseer in the explicit video was MP Saleem. However MP Saleem had denied the accusations and sent a letter to Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed requesting for a full investigation to be conducted.

Police also revealed that they have identified the second person seen in the explicit video with Abdulla Naseer and that they have confirmed that location at which the video was recorded is not a Raajje TV property.

This comes while MP Saleem had filed an MVR 10 million lawsuit on June 30, 2022 against a local media outlet accusing them of defamation following the reports accusing him of being the second man seen in one of the videos.
