Malé, Maldives – Drugs worth MVR 5 million, that were being smuggled into the country via Maldives Post, has been seized.
Maldives Customs said that the discovery was made when searching through items imported into the country via Post. The parcel in question arrived into the country via Germany, revealed Customs, adding that the package contained four packets containing substances that were suspected to be drugs.
Preliminary testing of the drugs proved the substances in two packets proved the drugs to be Ketamine, while the other two packets were revealed to be cocaine.
The total weight of the seized drugs was 1.6 kilograms, with a market rate of MVR five million, Customs further revealed.
This comes after Customs seized a parcel containing drugs worth MVR 1 million which also arrived via Post, just yesterday.
The drugs have now been handed over to Maldives Police Service, which is currently further investigating the case.
