Drugs worth MVR 10 million confiscated

Malé, Maldives – Maldives Customs has confiscated drugs worth MVR 10 million being smuggled in to the island nation through air.

According to Customs, the drugs were seized from a 30 year old British citizen who arrived in Maldives on April 25, 2021 after his luggage was checked following suspicious behavior and his travel route.

Customs had revealed that following tests, that the drugs was confirmed to be 3.4 kilograms of cocaine and that the street value of it would be around MVR 10,239,000.

This case comes while Maldives Customs had confiscated cocaine worth MVR 10.9 million from two individuals that arrived in the Maldives from Brazil and Latvia in January 2021.
