Malé, Maldives – Member of Parliament for Kin’bidhoo constituency Mohamed Nashiz has been elected as the Chair of Commonwealth Association of Public Accounts (CAPAC).
There are a total of 40 member countries in CAPAC, which was founded in 2015 with the aim of ensuring that all Commonwealth Parliaments and the citizens they serve benefit from strong and independent Public Accounts or equivalent committees to sustain and promote the highest principles of public finance.
Nashiz was elected as the Chair of the Association today, during the ongoing annual meeting of CAPAC at the Parliament. The annual meeting will go on from today until tomorrow.
Nashiz currently serves as the Chair of the Public Accounts Committee of the Maldivian Parliament, and has also served that the Vice Chair of the CAPAC since last year.
The previous chair of the association was UK MP, and the country’s Public Accounts Committee’s Chair Meg Hiller.
