3rd “Viavathi Raajje” conference to be held in L. Gan

Malé, Maldives – Preparations to host third edition of “Viavathi Raajje” conference in L. Gan has begun.

“Viavathi Raajje” conference will be held from September 10 – 12 with seven of the southern atoll councils participation. The councils include Dhaalu, Raa, Laamu. Gaafu Alif, Gaafu Dhaal, Fuvahmulah City and Addu City.

Over 250 participants including the council members and officials, women’s development committee members, ministers and other government officials will take part to discuss on the financial empowerment of councils, land-use plan formulation, gender equality and developing resilient communities.

The conference seeks to pave the opportunity to review the existing structures and find avenues for improvement. Further, it also presents an opportunity for the incumbent administration to confer its policies to ensure good governance.

At the first edition of the “Viavathi Raajje” conference held at Crossroads Maldives on 15 December 2019, President Solih signed the eighth amendment to the Decentralization Act into law. The second edition of the conference was hosted in AA. Ukulhas.
