ADB hands over USD 10 million in aid to Maldives

Malé, Maldives – Asian Development Bank (ADB) has handed over the USD 10 million in aid the bank decided to donate to the Maldives.

The hand over of funds, which will go towards the Covid-19 vaccine programme of the country was signed by Minister of Finance of Maldives Ibrahim Ameer.

The donation, which will be made under the Pacific Vaccine Access Facility of the Bank, will fund additional procurement of vaccines, establishment of storage facilities, vaccine delivery and monitoring activities as well.

Additionally, the donation will also go towards sourcing 7 speed boats, 2 refrigerated lorries and two vans, to deliver vaccines more efficiently within the atolls.

ADB has also previously assisted Maldives on various occasions and capacities, to help the country overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.
