Addu City, Maldives – Marine Corps of Maldives National Defence Force have been deployed in Addu City for five months to conduct a training, the city council said today.

The council said in an announcement that the training will continue until April next year.

According to the city council, the army will be in all districts of Addu City with weapons to conduct the exercises.

While this major army exercise has been launched in Addu, recently, a group of people linked to the dangerous terrorist group ISIS have been stopped from carrying out bomb blasts in Addu City. Several people have been arrested in the case and are currently in custody.

There have been armed exercises in the streets of the neighborhoods of Addu City in the past.

While a Marine Corps exercise is being conducted in the city, an exercise of the MNDF Southern Area will also be conducted in Gan Island from 30th of this month to 14th of next month. The exercise will use air and sea areas.
