Maldivian airlines increases access baggage fees

Malé, Maldives – Maldivian airlines has increased access baggage fees in some areas.

Island Aviation Services (IAS), which operates the national airline, has decided to charge $3.11 per kilogram of luggage for passengers departing from some airports.

The increased amount will be charged for flights to Maavarulu Airport, Kooddoo Airport and Kaadedhdhoo Airport.

The IAS said the change was brought in response to the government’s increase in TGST.

Taxes will be higher from next year. GST will be levied at 8 percent instead of 6 percent. TGST will be levied at 16 percent instead of 12 percent.
