President Solih to meet with reporters today

Malé, Maldives – President’s Office has announced that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will hold a press conference today.

President Solih will meet the press at 4:30 pm today.

The President’s Office did not say what the press conference was about. The last time President Solih held a press conference was in June.

Before taking office, President Solih said he would hold a monthly press conference. However, he did not do so.

President Solih is meeting with journalists at a time of turmoil in the political situation in the island nation.

While opposition presidential candidate, former President Abdulla Yameen has been sentenced for a 11-years, Maldivian Democratic Party’s presidential primary campaign has also heated up as MDP’s two factions go head to head.

The President is meeting with reporters today while he is campaigning for the MDP primary next month to seek a second term. The primary is scheduled for 28th of next month.
