Malé, Maldives – Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) has said it has no involvement with the liquor found from one of their vans.

A foreign employee of the RCC was arrested with bottles of liquor loaded in a vehicle in Hulhumalé yesterday.

Police said a foreign man was arrested with bottles of liquor and beer during a search of a van after they noticed suspicious behaviour of the driver.

RCC Chairman and Dhangethi Constituency MP Mohammed Nazim said the employee had committed an illegal act and the company would cooperate fully with the police in investigating the case.

Noting that the RCC has a lot of vehicles and drivers, Nazim said it is not easy to put someone behind each of them.

He said strong measures have been taken to prevent such a case from happening again in the future.
