On Friday, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih participated in the Commonwealth Leaders Event held at Marlborough House in London.

The event marked the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Commonwealth Charter, which coincides with the Commonwealth Year of Youth, the Commonwealth Year of Peace, and the coronation of the new Head of the Commonwealth.

The event provided a unique opportunity for the Commonwealth leaders to meet with His Majesty King Charles III before his coronation and welcome him as the new Head of the Commonwealth.

The leaders discussed their shared values and talked about the future of the Commonwealth, with a focus on the potential of Commonwealth Youth to advance issues such as peace and sustainable development.

In the meeting, leaders reaffirmed their unwavering and unified commitment to the continued strengthening of our Commonwealth family and assuring its future by investing in the 1.5 billion young people across our 56 nations.

After the event, the Commonwealth Heads of Government and their representatives took an official photograph with His Majesty King Charles III.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed are presently on an official visit to the United Kingdom to attend the coronation ceremony of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey on May 6, 2023.

The year also marks the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Commonwealth Charter, which reaffirms the values and principles of the Commonwealth as well as its aspirations. As well as being designated the Year of the Youth, 2023 is also being marked as the Commonwealth Year of Peace.
