President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih envisions Maldives economy doubling in five years.

President Solih said at the Addu reclamation project inauguration ceremony, that this boost in economy is the biggest and most significant change in such a short period. The impacts of these project developments over the country will be seen in five years, he added.

President Solih assured that in the next five years, the productivity of the country will boost to MVR 117Bn. It was only at MVR 82Bn when he took office, back in 2018, President claimed. He also noted, to achieve this level of success, he needs to develop the whole of Maldives, not just certain segments. “We need to develop the country as a whole. That is what this government has been doing for the past five years.”

Speaking on the Government’s focus on Addu City, President Solih has he has noticed that any positive change in Maldives stems from Addu City. Solih Administration has spent MVR 1.5Bn to reclaim 190 hectare of land in addition to road development project and airport development project.
